Every time I think about the experience I had giving birth to Ian I feel
ecstatic. It was amazing, beautiful, and more powerful than I could ever have
dreamed. I did it myself, but a big part of what made it so wonderful was that I
chose the right person to watch over me and support me. You gave me excellent
care, were attentive and intuitive, and helped us welcome our new baby in the
safety and comfort of our own home. I’m so happy that Ian was born the way he
was meant to be born, and that we were able to give him this wonderful start to
his life.
When I was in labor, I felt very safe in my home. The baby and
I were in good hands. You monitored the baby and me as needed, but I was
unhindered, which was the perfect combination. You offered just the right amount
of encouragement, offered comfort during painful contractions, and also gave me
and my husband plenty of space and privacy to enjoy the labor. I know that we
gave you plenty of challenges to work with, and you really made it all come
together in the end. Waiting for labor to finally start, and then going thru the
56 hour long ordeal of bringing him into the world wasn't easy, but you handled
it with grace, kindness and patience.
I am deeply grateful that you were
there for us in this journey. I want you to know from my heart, that I think you
are truly wonderful at what you do. Midwife, friend, guide, supporter - you were
all this and so much more. You are so gifted in your profession, we know you
will be a blessing to many, many women and babies during your lifetime.
