About Me...
I am a mom of 6 amazing children, and have been attending women in birth for over 8 years.
I have worked with and gleaned from several midwives in and around Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. I graduated from The House of LaMatrona School of Holistic Midwifery in May of 2005. In addition to my work as a midwife, I am passionate about teaching and writing. I spend much of my working and free time researching and writing articles that pertain to pregnancy and birth. I am currently working on a creating an educational program specifically geared at healthy pregnancies, as well as natural family planning, breastfeeding, and yes... childbirth.
I am currently working with Kim L. Mosny of
Home Birth Midwifery Service as a Midwives Assistant and Primary Midwife Under Supervision, to gain my supervised experience and become a nationally credentialed and state licensed midwife. It is our hope that I should have everything finished up and be able to take the exam in late 2010. I am also a member in good standing of the
Comonwealth Midwives Alliance and
Birth Matters Virginia. I have written for several online and in print publications including
Motherspirit, The Art & Science of Mothering, and Eve in Hand.
I am a lay reflexologist and homeopath, and certified in Level II Reiki. I have been studying alternative healing for women and birth for about 12 years. In my practice I encourage the use of herbs, nutrition, massage, energy work, reflexology, chiropractics, biofeedback, homeopathy, prayer/meditation and movement/exercise to generate a healthy lifestyle and produce healthy pregnancies, easy births and a wonderful parenting experience.
